Biography
Tianhe Chen was born in Suzhou, China. He has long been interested in how market-oriented social transformations and differentiations are deeply intertwined with people's everyday struggles and self-identities, especially in how people understand their lives and make expression in an unstable society.
His current project examines how generational changes and shifting family roles manifest in unstable societies like China. He has another project on the lived experience of aging, focusing on loneliness.
He is using NCHAT dataset to explore the lives of gender minority couples and populations over 50 in the US.
