I will be pursuing my MS in Applied Economics. An interest of mine is pollutant cap-and-trade markets. I held an internship with the University of Wisconsin-Extension, working on a proposal for a phosphorus cap-and-trade system in the La Crosse River watershed. The goal was to persuade the City of La Crosse to encourage the creation of a phosphorus credit market amongst farmers and businesses, rather than the alternative of upgrades to the wastewater treatment plant. Other topics of interest I have include economic and health impacts of climate change-related health issues; the impacts of habitat destruction and corresponding effects on related sectors (ie. tourism, logging, recreation); and the promotion of trade in communities constrained by geography, habitat, and other factors.
