Biography

I joined the MPC in 2007, after completing a postdoctoral fellowship at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. I work primarily on our international census data projects, where my responsibilities include developing measures of family structure and household relationships, assessing data quality, and disseminating data to international researchers.

As a family demographer, my research focuses on measuring changes in family formation in the U.S. and internationally, and in understanding the implications of these changes for the well-being of children and young adults. MPC data sets, which provide harmonized data over long time series, are particularly well-suited to answering these questions. My current research projects include studying rising rates of divorce and union instability in the U.S., trends in intergenerational co-residence in developing countries, and the impact of the Great Recession on economic-wellbeing at different stages of the life course.
