My research interests are centered around social and structural determinants of health in the context of aging and disability. I am particularly interested in the effects of neighborhood, area disadvantage, and social connectedness on later-in-life health outcomes such as cognitive decline and functional (ADL) impairments.
Laura Stoff is a doctoral student in Epidemiology at the School of Public Health, advised by Dr. Theresa Osypuk. She received her MPH in Epidemiology from the University of Minnesota. Laura also works as a Senior Research Associate at NORC at the University of Chicago, where she supports large-scale public health surveys including High School & Beyond and the Medicare Current Beneficiary Survey. Laura is interested in using large, nationally representative datasets to study social and structural determinants of health in the context of aging and disability. Her research aims to provide insights that can inform health policy and intervention strategies, especially concerning health disparities and aging populations.
