Biography
I work on how Hindu intellectuals drew on demographic thought to conceptualize caste and religion as constituents of the political in twentieth century India. My ongoing research investigates intellectual trajectories of the modern 'Hindu political' beyond either Hindu nationalism or traditionalism. Besides this dissertation focus, I am interested in studying twentieth-century experiments in 'post-national' thinking from a South Asian perspective, especially as these emerged from anti-majoritarian, anti-caste, and nonviolent movements.
