I have many research interests, but with the MPC and LCC, I’d like to focus on gender, family, and engagement. I am particularly interested in working with the MPC Work, Family, and Time group on the gendered dynamics of work-family balance and social engagement. Having previously worked with NCHAT, I want to stay involved in their work and explore opportunities for a research assistant position. For LCC, I am curious about the gendered dynamics of work, family, and community participation and how these affect health outcomes later in life, an area I hope to learn more about while further developing my skills in quantitative research.
Jordyn Wald is a Ph.D. student in Sociology at the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities. Her research interests center around gender inequality and its intersections with family, the life course, media, and politics. She is particularly interested in how cultural narratives and social dynamics shape and reproduce inequality, drawing on both quantitative and qualitative methods. Jordyn has worked on projects examining sexual identity concealment among couples through the NCHAT program and is developing a publication on feminists who hold anti-trans beliefs with the American Mosaic Project. She also enjoys public sociology, contributing to The Society Pages through curated StoryMaps and accessible research features. In her doctoral studies, Jordyn aims to deepen her expertise in population research and advance the study of gender inequality, family dynamics, reproductive rights, and social change.
