Biography

Hawking is a Health Policy Management Ph.D. student at the University of Minnesota, School of Public Health. He is also a graduate research assistant in the Families and Long-term Care team and a member of Equity and Quality in Long-term Service and Supports Lab. Hawking’s research interests center on social determinants of health and disparities in the historically disadvantaged populations under a multinational context. He is especially interested in investigating how Alzheimer’s disease and related dementia impact patients and their family’s socioeconomic status. Hawking’s long-term goal is to become an independent researcher to inform policymakers about improving the financial well-being and health outcomes for vulnerable populations. Hawking received his Master of Science in Healthcare Decision Analysis from the School of Pharmacy at the University of Southern California.
