Biography

Colette Salemi is an applied microeconomist who joined the University of Victoria in 2022. Her current research examines contexts of forced displacement, exploring both the spillover effects of refugee camps on communities and landscapes as well as and the environmental hazards at camp sites.  Colette also studies conservation and ecosystem services, with a focus on forests. She is additionally interested in climate-induced migration and the complex relationship between climate shocks and conflict.

Colette received a PhD in Applied Economics from the University of Minnesota in May 2022.
