I completed my PhD in Applied Economics at UMN in May 2022 and am starting an assistant professor position at the Department of Economics, University of Victoria, in July 2022. I study migration and the environment - my recent work has focused on the environmental impacts of refugee camps and environmental hazards at camp locations. My future agenda includes environmental migration tied to climate change. While at UMN I was a student member of the MPC, and my membership was critical to my research, which often involves big data and geospatial applications. As an affiliate, I'd like to retain my stored files at the MPC as well as access to the GP2 machine and the online RStudio platform. I'd also like to continue to receive notifications of MPC events (workshops, presentations) that are hybrid or on Zoom.
Colette is an applied economist studying migration and the environment. Her work includes studies of the impacts of refugee camps in sub-Saharan Africa and Bangladesh, as well as evaluations of camp site selection and natural hazards at camp locations. She is also interested in environmental migration decisions in response to climate change and extreme weather events. Beyond migration, Colette studies ecosystem services related to forests. She received her PhD in Applied Economics from the University of Minnesota in May 2022.
