My primary research interests include political economies of post-war East Asia: Japan, South Korea, Taiwan, China; the history of global capitalism; the Global Cold War; Marxism; comparative economic history; agrarian history, agricultural change, and historical sociology; and late imperial and modern Chinese economic, social, legal, and political history. Most recently, I received the Erasmus Mundus Fellowship of the EU from the London School of Economics Department of Economic History, have been a Visiting Scholar at Academia Sinica, Taiwan, and been a Fulbright Scholar at the Chiang Ching-Kuo Foundation for International Scholarly Exchange Grant for Professors, among other notable fellowships and awards.
