Ann Meier

I am a sociologist who studies gender, family dynamics, and relationships using a life-course perspective. I have studied romantic partnership formation from adolescence into adulthood, gender differences in values for romantic relationships, and family dynamics in families with children, including conflict between parents, parent-child relationships, and child and parent well-being. My current research focuses on joint changes in men’s and women’s work and earnings following childbirth and across the first decade of parenthood. I am interested in how changes in work attachment and earnings across the life course, as well as historical changes in family formation, have contributed to aggregate trends in earnings inequality.
