Health Equity; Sexual and Gender Minority Health; Social Determinants of Health; Healthcare Access and Health Disparities
I am a PhD student in the program of Health Services Research, Policy and Administration at the University of Minnesota School of Public Health, and a National Cancer Institute Cancer-related Health Disparities Fellow. I joined the MPC as a graduate student member in 2014.
My research focuses on advancing health equity for marginalized populations, particularly lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender populations. I have conducted studies on the mental health of sexual minority college students; health care barriers faced by transgender adults; and the reproduction of heteronormativity in medical school curricula. I have training in both quantitative and qualitative methods. As a community-engaged scholar, I have partnered with community organizations in Minnesota and Washington, DC. My awards include the Schochet Award in Health Policy & Practice, and the Weisman & Chase Gender-Based Research Award.
