Research Interests

I am interested in intergenerational trauma and mental health in Asian and Asian American populations. My research often focuses on how adversity across ecological contexts (e.g., ACEs, neighborhood resources, social determinants of health, structural inequalities, and immigration) shapes risk and resilience. I am particularly passionate about using advanced statistical methods (e.g., machine learning) in population-level data (e.g., I've worked with the NVSS mortality data, the BRFSS, and the ACS) to inform policy and practice. I'm currently working on an interdisciplinary project with Dr. Ka I Ip and Dr. Marla Eisenberg using the Minnesota Student Survey data. I find that my research interests, as well as research methods, highly ally with 3 of MPC's primary areas: Structural Racism and Health Inequities, Spatial and Environmental Demography, and Population Health and Health Systems.
