URGENT: Comments on ACS Questions Needed

Dear IPUMS Users,

Thank you so much to those of you who have taken the time to respond to the proposed elimination of six ACS questions relating to marriage and education.

If you have not yet written to comment on the proposed elimination of these six questions, I urge you to do so immediately. The deadline is December 30, but don’t delay! We believe the number of responses is lower than expected, especially on the marriage questions, and the total tally counts. Even if you just write a sentence or two, it is important to have your voice heard.

We encourage you to respond to the Federal Register notice on the importance of the ACS in general, not just regarding the items proposed for deletion from the survey. We need all ACS users to respond to emphasize the enormous value of the ACS.

Comments should be emailed to Jennifer Jessup in the Department of Commerce (jjessup@doc.gov).

More information is available at https://www.pop.umn.edu/acs, and my letter to Jennifer Jessup can be viewed here.

Please everyone, write an e-mail!

Steve
