To be eligible for a Traineeship, students must be admitted to a PhD program of an academic unit affiliated with the MPC through that unit's regular graduate admissions process.
- Students may begin the Training Program in Population Studies as an incoming PhD student or after completing one year in their current PhD program
- Trainees will typically receive three years of funding—renewed annually, conditional on satisfactory progress—for their period of training
- At the end of each academic year, the Graduate Faculty in Population Studies will evaluate each trainee's progress and make decisions about continuation of traineeships
